Ramp, Roadway Construction Planned Next Week, Next Weekend on U.S. 1 in Bensalem, Middletown Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that ramp and roadway construction will continue next week on U.S. 1 under a project to reconstruct, widen and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships, Bucks County. 
 
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:  
  • Monday, April 10, through Thursday, April 13, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, left lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 between the Turnpike and the Penndel/Business U.S.1 Exits for median paving; and
  • From 8:00 PM Friday, April 14, to 6:00 AM Monday, April 17, the ramp from northbound U.S. 1 to Rockhill Drive at the Neshaminy Exit will be closed for construction. Motorists will be detoured north on U.S. 1 to the Penndel/Business U.S.1 Exit, left at the turnaround to Old Lincoln Highway, then south on U.S.1 to Rockhill Drive at the Neshaminy Exit. 
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing new bridges from the Turnpike Interchange in Bensalem Township to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 in Middletown Township under the $111 million RC2 contract.
