PennDOT to Begin U.S. 202, Route 491 (Naamans Creek Road)/Beaver Valley Road Intersection Improvement Project in Concord Township

04/07/2023

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin next week on a project to improve mobility and reduce congestion for motorists and emergency services at the U.S. 202 (Wilmington/West Chester Pike) and Route 491 (Naamans Creek Road)/Beaver Valley Road Intersection in Concord Township, Delaware County.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will install a second left turn lane on southbound U.S. Route 202 (Wilmington/West Chester Pike) at the Route 491 (Naamans Creek Road)/Beaver Valley Road Intersection. An additional receiving lane will also be installed on Route 491 (Naamans Creek Road) to handle the increased volume from the new left turn lane from southbound U.S. 202. All other lanes within the intersection will remain the same.

Additional enhancements include pavement resurfacing within the project limits, installing new signs and pavement markings, and modernizing traffic signal heads and mast arms.

Beginning Monday, April 10, through early September, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weekday lane closures are scheduled at the following locations:

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Highway Materials, Inc., of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on this $991,737 project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Work on the entire project is expected to finish in winter 2024.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
