Springwood Road Over Unnamed Tributary to Mill Creek

Project Location Map

Overview

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation invites the public to an online plan display regarding the Route 2002 (Springwood Rd) bridge replacement project. This project is located over Unnamed Tributary to Mill Creek in York Township, York County, roughly 4 miles southeast of the City of York. The purpose of this project is to address the deterioration of the existing bridge structure, which is currently in fair condition, and provide continued access on Route 2002, Section 022 over Unnamed Tributary to Mill Creek.

The existing structure is a single span reinforced concrete slab structure with masonry abutments with a span of 14'-0". There are no existing bridge plans.

Proposed construction will consist of replacing the existing superstructure with a 16' – 0" span Precast Concrete Box Culvert utilizing a spray on waterproofing of the distribution slab of the culvert for protection of the structure. Additionally, existing guiderails will be replaced to bring up to current standards. The proposed bridge will carry two 11'-0" lanes, and a 4'-4" minimum left and right shoulder.

Maintenance of traffic will occur via full detour. Access to all driveways within the project limits will be maintained during construction.

The project is currently in the design phase. The construction is expected to take place primarily within the 2024 construction season. In accordance with Governor Wolf's COVID-19 mitigation efforts, the plans display will be held online only.
