The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has updated the proposed detour for the project to replace two bridges that carry East Gilmore Road over Wolf Creek and an unnamed tributary to East Branch Wolf Creek in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.
The bridges are located on East Gilmore Road between the intersection with Route 173 and the intersection with Centertown Road. The bridges, which are located on a township road, are owned by Mercer County.
The existing bridges will be replaced on the existing alignment and construction is expected to happen simultaneously. Work is expected to occur during the 2025 construction season.
Due to other work planned in the area next year, the proposed detour route has been changed.
Through traffic on East Gilmore Road will be detoured using Route 173, Daugherty Road, and Centertown Road (Route 2009).
Residences located between the bridges can be accessed by using Montgomery Dam Road, Scrubgrass Road (Route 2014), and Route 173.
The existing bridges were built in 1959 and are classified as poor condition. Approximately 500 vehicles per day use both bridges on average.
