​Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing an upcoming detour on State Route 228 to improve the drainage and travel conditions during heavy rains in Middlesex and Clinton Townships, Butler County.

On April 14 and 21, 2023 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, crews from Glenn O. Hawbaker of State College, will be working near the intersection of State Route 228 and State Route 8 in Glade Mills.  On these dates, State Route 228 will be closed from the intersection of State Route 8 to the Old Route 8 North intersection. 

To detour, motorists should travel State Route 8, to State Route 356 to Sarver, to State Route 228. 

Work is weather dependent.  In the event of a weather cancellation on either date, April 28, 2023 will be the rain date.

In addition to the closure, motorists should expect single-lane restrictions on State Route 228 near the intersection of State Route 228 and State Route 8 starting April 10, 2023. 

The anticipated completion date for this $3.4 million project is August 2023.  The project also includes drainage and other miscellaneous construction.  Resurfacing on State Route 228 will be from the intersection of State Route 8 to Sandy Hill Road.
