06/01/2023

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that pavement repair will be performed at night next week on westbound Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) under a $36.8 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and 23 bridges from U.S. 1 South (City Avenue) to Interstate 676 (Vine Street Expressway) in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this contract, PennDOT will mill and overlay I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) pavement in both directions; perform concrete base, shoulder and barrier repair and replacement as needed; construct minor grade adjustments for existing inlets at select locations; replace damaged signs; install new pavement markings, delineators and rumble strips; and perform bridge repairs.

H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, PA, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100% federal funds. Work on the entire project is expected to finish in late 2024.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
