Bridge Inspection Scheduled on Girard Point Bridge and Other State Highways in Philadelphia

King of Prussia PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge inspections are scheduled on the Girard Point Bridge and other state highways in Philadelphia.

The work schedules and locations are:

  • Saturday, November 18, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on the southbound deck of Girard Point Bridge between the Broad Street and Enterprise Avenue interchanges;
  • Monday, November 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Castor Avenue between Wingohocking Street and Wyoming Avenue; and
  • Tuesday, November 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure us scheduled on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between the Ridge Avenue/Kelly Drive and the Interstate 76 Interchanges.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

These inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions, by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
