46 bridges were repaired, replaced, or preserved by PennDOT or industry forces through June 2023. 153 miles of roadway were improved by department or partner crews through June 2023. This includes 90 miles of paving. See projects happening or planned near you at PennDOT's Project Website.
District 4 has put out 261 bridge projects and 451 projects for roadway and other improvement projects worth approximately $1.7 billion since January 2015.

Route 739 Safety Improvement Project

The I-84 Section 282 project includes the replacement of 2 mainline bridges carrying I-84 EB and WB over Roaring Brook and the active Delaware, Lackawanna and Western (DL and W) Railroad and the reconfiguration of Exit 2 with SR 435 in Dunmore Borough and Roaring Brook Township, Lackawanna County. This project is expected to be completed in 2024

The SR 424, Section 390 project involves an extension of SR 424, commonly referred to as the Hazleton Beltway, from the I-81/Exit 141 Interchange to Humboldt Industrial Park (HIP) in Hazle Township, Luzerne County. The approximately 1.1-mile long extension will involve the construction of a four-lane roadway from the current termination of the beltway just west of I-81 to Commerce Drive. This project is expected to be completed in 2024.

The project involves safety improvements along Route 739, Section WID (Valley Road) from Pike County Boulevard to Route 6 (Grand Army of the Republic Highway) in Blooming Grove Township, Pike County, PA. The purpose of the project is to provide safety improvements along Route 739 to facilitate an anticipated increase in truck traffic from the construction of the PennDOT Maintenance Facility on Pike County Boulevard.
Proposed safety improvements consist of widening existing shoulders along Route 739 to four and one-half feet, constructing Safety Edge treatments along the widened shoulders, installing milled edge line rumble strips, and improving the existing drainage system. Other work includes excavation, full depth bituminous paving, landscaping, E & S Control measures, temporary traffic control, signing, pavement markings and other miscellaneous construction for a total length of 1.852 miles. This project is expected to be completed in Summer 2024.
