PennDOT to Hold a Public Meeting for Project to Resurface Route 62/322 in Franklin and Sandycreek Township, Venango County

​The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to the public meetings for a project to improve Route 62/322 Liberty Street/15th Street) in the City of Franklin, Venango County.

An in-person public meeting for the Route 62/322 Improvement Project will be held:

Time:                          6:00 PM to 7:00 PM  

Location:                    First United Methodist Church – Fellowship Hall

Pre-registration is not required, and attendees will have an opportunity to give input at the end of the meeting.

The purpose of the project is to provide reliable and efficient transportation facilities for motorized traffic as well as pedestrians and bicyclists.

The project will include resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation of the existing pavement and roadway, intersection improvements, and signal updates on Route 62/322 (Liberty Street/15th Street) from the intersection of 15th Street (Route 8) and Mercer Road (Route 62) in Sandycreek Township to the intersection of Liberty Street (Route 322) and 8th Street (Route 322) in the City of Franklin. Intersection improvements, and signal updates on Route 62/322 (Liberty Street/15th Street) and from the intersection of 15th Street (Route 8) and Mercer Road (Route 62) in Sandycreek Township to the intersection of Liberty Street (Route 322) and 8th Street (Route 322) in the City of Franklin. The project will also include minor intersection widening to accommodate truck off-tracking at 15th Street and intersection improvements at 12th Street intersection to reduce pedestrian crossing lengths and improve the geometry of the roadway.

Work is expected to occur in 2026 construction season.

No detours are expected in connection with the project, but there will be lane restrictions and traffic controlled by flaggers.

The information on the Route 62/322 Improvement Project, including a comment form, will be posted online following the meeting. The page will remain active until December 14, 2023, and can be accessed by visiting the PennDOT District 1 website, www.penndot.pa.gov/District1.

The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project. It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project's potential effect upon Cultural Resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation's 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

The in-person public meeting is being held in a facility that complies with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and it is accessible to individuals who have disabilities.
