Project Overview

The Haine School Road to Commonwealth Drive section of the project includes realigning the roadway and adding new turning lanes in addition to other safety improvements. 

The Haine School Road to Beaver County section is the third project on the corridor. Improvements include new pavement and turning lanes, widening, multimodal improvements, drainage, signal upgrade/replacement, and lighting work with service and access roads, highway realignment, sidewalks, and other safety improvements. The project started with tree trimming and survey layout for utility moves are anticipated for the Summer of 2023.

Both of these projects are a continuation of the Freedom Road Turnpike Bridge project and are part of the overall initiative to update the Freedom Road Corridor.

Project Updates

1-4-23

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing upcoming tree trimming for future utility work on Freedom Road (State Route 3020) between Freedom Road and Lovi Road in Cranberry Township, Butler County.  

On January 9, 2023, weather permitting, crews will be starting work for the upcoming utility movement.  There will be no anticipated traffic impacts at this time.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing a change in dates for the weekend road closure on Freedom Road (State Route 3020) in Cranberry Township, Butler County. 

Originally scheduled for last weekend, due to weather, the closure has been changed to October 21 – 23, 2022.

Freedom Road (State Route 3020) Westbound will be closed from October 21 at 10:00 p.m. to October 23 at 6:00 a.m. between Haine School Road and Commonwealth Drive for paving, drainage, and signal work.

Contractor, Gulisek Construction, LLC of Mt. Pleasant, PA will be maintaining Eastbound traffic with signage and flagging as needed. For the westbound detour, traffic will use State Route 3020 East, to U.S. 19 North, to Rochester Road (State Route 3022) to Powell Road (T-300), to Freedom Road (State Route 3020).

Freedom Road (State Route 3020) Westbound will be closed from September 30 at 10:00 p.m. to October 3 at 6:00 a.m. between Haine School Road and Commonwealth Drive for paving, drainage, and signal work. 

Contractor, Gulisek Construction, LLC of Mt. Freedom Road (State Route 3020) Westbound will be closed from July 8 at 10:00 p.m. to July 11 at 6:00 a.m. between Haine School Road and Commonwealth Drive for paving, drainage, and signal work. 

Contractor, Gulisek Construction, LLC of Mt. Pleasant, PA will be maintaining Eastbound traffic with signage and flagging as needed.  For the westbound detour, traffic will use State Route 3020 East, to U.S. 19 North, to Rochester Road (State Route 3022) to Powell Road (T-300), to Freedom Road (State Route 3020).

3-16-22

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing evening and weekend road construction on Freedom Road (State Route 3020) in Cranberry Township, Butler County starting March 28, 2022.

Contractor, Gulisek Construction, LLC of Mt. Pleasant, PA will be implementing a new traffic pattern and working outside of the shoulder area as construction continues with the second season of the two-year project.  Work includes short term traffic control evenings and weekends for road, drainage and signal work to be completed.

The impacted area is between Haine School Road and Commonwealth Drive/T-995.
