Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is
announcing inspection activities in Liberty Tunnel (Route 3069) in the City of
Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will continue Wednesday night, May 3 weather
permitting.
Overnight
tunnel closures will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for tunnel inspection and
survey work according to the following schedule:
Tuesday night, May 2 – Inbound
(northbound)
Wednesday night, May 3 –
Outbound (southbound)
Traffic
will be detoured during the inspections.

Follow eastbound I-376 through
Fort Pitt Tunnel and across the Fort Pitt Bridge
For access to I-279
destinations follow I-279 signage, all other destinations take exit toward
I-376 East/Monroeville
Take the left exit 71A to Grant
Street
Turn left onto Grant Street

Additional
overnight closures are anticipated but have not been scheduled. Details will be
provided in advance of any future closings.
Police
will assist with traffic control at the signalized intersections outside of the
tunnel entrances.
Crews
from Gannett Fleming, Inc., will conduct the inspection work.
