Perkiomenville Road Over Scioto Creek Bridge Replacement

Project Location

Overview

This project is for the replacement of the existing bridge that carries Perkiomenville Road over Scioto Creek. The existing structure is a 30’ single-span reinforced concrete arch bridge that was constructed by Montgomery County in 1932.   The bridge is currently posted with a 36-ton weight restriction (except 40-tons for combination vehicles).

The new structure will be built on a similar horizontal alignment as the existing structure.  As part of the bridge replacement, the structure will be widened slightly to accommodate 5’ wide striped shoulders to better accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians. Guide rail will be replaced and drainage facilities will be upgraded to help reduce erosion near the bridge.

During construction, Perkiomenville Road will be detoured. The bridge is in overall poor condition and is posted with weight restrictions.
