Viaduct Rehabilitation Scheduled Next Week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that drainage improvements and guiderail installation next week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) under a $96.6 million project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and the Nicetown neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • Monday, December 11, and Tuesday, December 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, a left lane closure will be in place on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Cayuga Street and Berkley Street for drainage repairs;
  • Monday, December 11, through Friday, December 15, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic right lane closures will be in place on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between 9th Street and Interstate 76 for guiderail installation; and
  • Monday, December 11, through Friday, December 15, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic right lane closures will be in place on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between I-76 and 9th Street for guiderail installation.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The work is part of the post-construction punch-list activities for PennDOT's substantially completed Wayne Junction Viaduct project. More project information is available at www.us1wav.com.
