PennDOT Reopens All Lanes on Route 29 (Morehall Road) Following Sinkhole, Pipe Repair in East Whiteland Township

12/22/2023

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that Route 29 (Morehall Road) was opened this evening in both directions between General Warren Boulevard/Atwater Drive and Great Valley Parkway in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, following sinkhole and pipe repair.

On Monday, December 18, Route 29 (Morehall Road) was reduced to a single lane in each direction, following the discovery of pipe damage and pavement settlement before being fully closed in both directions for repair operations.

PennDOT's contractor addressed the voided area and reestablished the drainage piping that was damaged. Flowable fill was used to fill the voids, followed by paving.

PennDOT is investigating and monitoring this section of Route 29 (Morehall Road) to determine if further subsurface stabilization will need to be performed.
