Paving, Bridge Rehab Project Restarted on Route 6 in Warren County

03/25/2024

The project to pave four miles of roadway and restore three bridges along Route 6 in Warren County has restarted.

The project restarted earlier this month with traffic signal updates at the intersections with Yankee Bush Road and Preston Road.

On April 1, preservation work, which will require long-term lane closures, will start on the bridges that carries Route 6 over the Allegheny River and Allegheny & Eastern Railroads in Conewango Township.

The bridge over the Allegheny River was built in 1955 and is classified as fair condition. Approximately 10,000 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average. The bridge over the Allegheny & Eastern Railroads in Conewango Township was built in 1976 and is rated in fair condition. Approximately 10,000 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.

The project will include paving 4 miles of Route 6 from west of Yankee Bush Road to Main Avenue in Conewango and Pleasant townships and the City of Warren. In connection with this work, motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.

Work also included repairs on the bridge over Morse Run in Conewango Township, which was completed in 2023.

The project also includes upgrades to drainage, guide rails, and signage, as well as the installation of ADA curb ramps.

The contractor is IA Construction Corporation, of Franklin, PA. The contract cost is $10,889,778, which is to be paid for with a combination of state and federal funds.
