04/22/2024

A $2.1 million resurfacing project that will give motorists a smoother ride on 7 miles of Route 258 in Springfield, Findlay, and East Lackawannock townships, and Mercer Borough, Mercer County is scheduled to start this month.

The project will include paving of 7 miles of roadway from the intersection with Route 208 near the Grove City Outlet Mall to the intersection with Hope Mill Road (Route 2011) in Mercer Borough.

Work will also include roadway base layer repairs, and updates to drainage, guiderail, median traffic delineators, tree trimming, and pavement markings.

Construction is expected to begin April 29, 2024, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed in late July 2024.

Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions and anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

The contractor is Shields Asphalt Paving, Inc. of Valencia, PA. The contract cost is $2,097,819.24, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
