PennDOT Announces Plans Display for Lamor Road Roadway Improvement Project in City of Hermitage, Mercer County

04/25/2024

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to view the online plans display for a project to improve the roadway and safety of Lamor Road in the City of Hermitage, Mercer County.

The project includes Lamor Road (Route 3020) between the intersection with the Route 18 and the intersection with North Keel Ridge Road (SR 3011).

The Lamor Road Improvement Project will include milling and paving, as well as widening the Lamor Road to include 4-foot shoulders, updated drainage and concrete curbs along each side. The road west of the Carol S. Gurrera Village driveway will be improved to design criteria for 35 miles per hour speeds.

Work will also include completion of a missing segment of sidewalk along the left side of Lamor Road from the intersection with Route 18 to Valley View Road. The intersection radius will also be improved for large vehicles turning right from North Keel Ridge Road (Route 3011) to westbound Lamor Road.

Work is expected to occur during the 2025 construction season.

A detour will be required during construction and is expected to be in place for approximately eight months. The proposed 4.1-mile detour route will be posted using North Keel Ridge Road, Route 62, and Route 18.

Lamor Road will be open to local traffic and property owners will have continual access to their properties during construction. Local traffic will be controlled by flaggers and short-term traffic controls.

Carol S. Gurrera Village driveway connecting to Lamor Road will be closed during construction. Access to the village will be maintained through the North Keel Ridge Road driveway.

The online plans display for the Lamor Road Roadway Improvement Project includes a handout, short PowerPoint presentation, digital plans, and an online comment form. It will be open until May 10, 2024 and can be accessed by visiting the PennDOT District 1 website, www.penndot.pa.gov/District1 under the Design and Construction Projects link.

Those unable to access the information online may give feedback by contacting PennDOT Project Manager Kyle Barker at kybarker@pa.gov or 814-678-7166.

The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project. It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project's potential effect upon Cultural Resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation's 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
