Paving Project to Start Soon on Route 886 in Crawford County

05/02/2024

A $2.8 million resurfacing project that will give motorists a smoother ride on nearly 9 miles of Route 886 (Main Street) in the City of Meadville, Woodcock Borough, and Cambridge and West Mead townships, Crawford County is scheduled to begin soon.

The project will include resurfacing 8.9 miles of roadway from Oak Street to Henry Road. Additional work will include pipe replacement, guiderail updates, and pavement markings.

Work is expected to begin Monday, May 13, weather permitting, and be completed in September 2024.

The pipe replacement work will require a seven-day detour during the project. The detour will be posted using Route 198, Route 6/19, and Park Avenue in the City of Meadville.

During other work, motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers and should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions. Drivers should anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

The contractor is IA Construction Corporation of Franklin, PA. The contract cost is $2,783,777.77, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.

This year PennDOT's Northwest Region excepts to do work on more than 100 projects. To see a full listing of all the anticipated work, check out the 2024 Construction Book located under the Resources tab online at www.penndot.pa.gov/District1.
