New Lane Alignment on State Route 228 for the Ball's Bend Safety Improvement Project, Butler County

07/18/2023

Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting drivers to upcoming lane changes on State Route 228 as part of the Ball's Bend Safety Improvement Project in Middlesex Township, Butler County July 24 through 28, 2023.

Between the intersections of State Route 228 with Park Road and Officer Edward Brooks Drive, the contractor will be making lane changes with a crossover near Orchard Lane.  Single lane closures will occur nightly, weather dependent. There will be temporary impacts to Davis Road during the work, but access will be maintained to Davis Road at all times.

This $26.5 million safety improvement project is anticipated to be completed in January 2025 by Independence Excavating of Independence, Ohio.  The project is a major roadway realignment project involving the addition of a travel lane in each direction and a center turn lane. It also includes the construction of four new structures, realigned local road connections, and a new signalized intersection at State Route 228 and Parks Road.
