Balls Bend Safety Improvement Project in Middlesex Township, Butler County Enters Final Phase of Project

04/02/2024

Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists to nighttime flagging with single lane closures on April 10.

The Balls Bend Safety Improvement Project is entering the final phase of construction.  Line painting and signal work at the Harbison Road and Park Road intersection will begin April 10 at 8:00 PM, weather permitting.  In the event of low temperatures or inclement weather, the date will be rescheduled.  The new left turn lane onto Park Road will become active during this time.

Once fully implemented, traffic will be changing to one lane eastbound and one lane westbound across the bridge near Davis Road.

This $26.5 million safety improvement project is anticipated to be completed in January 2025 by Independence Excavating of Independence, Ohio.  The project is a major roadway realignment project involving the addition of a travel lane in each direction and a center turn lane. It also includes the construction of four new structures, realigned local road connections, and a new signalized intersection at State Route 228 and Parks Road.
