Meridian Road Closure Delayed Until April 29 in Penn Township, Butler County

04/19/2024

Indiana, PA – PennDOT is announcing that the road closure for Meridian Road (Route 3007) between Railroad Street (T-453) and Smith Road (T-453) in Penn Township, Butler County, has been postponed to April 29, 2024.

Due to inclement weather, the road closure scheduled for April 22 through May 20 has been changed to April 29 to May 27, 2024.

Meridian Road will be closed with a detour as crews remove the hillside for the construction of the new road.  From north of the closure, motorists will travel on Meridian Road to Route 68 East into Butler, to Route 8 South to Brownsdale Road (Route 3010) and back onto Meridian Road.  Signage will be placed along the detour route to assist motorists.

Emergency funding was secured for the project which allowed it to proceed into construction in mid-March 2024 and continuing through the end of May 2024.

Provisions are in place with PennDOT, Penn Township and the contractor during the Meridian Road reconstruction to allow emergency vehicle access to Renfrew and allow residents to exit and reenter Renfrew in the event there is an issue that closes the Renfrew bridge.

Contractor, Allison Park Contracting of Gibsonia, PA, will be completing this $685,000 project.
