Secondary Road Maintenance Project Begins in May in Armstrong County

Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 10 is alerting motorists to upcoming secondary road maintenance in Burrell, Kittanning, Manor, Plum Creek, South Bend and Bethel Townships in Armstrong County.

“This is the continuation of a 2-year, $10 million investment in the secondary road infrastructure of Armstrong County that I was pleased to advocate", said Senator Joe Pittman.  “Residents of rural communities deserve decent infrastructure and we've taken a great step in that direction. My hope is for these investments to continue in the years ahead to bring all roads in Armstrong County to a higher standard."

The State Routes include 37.7 miles in Burrell, Kittanning, Manor, Plum Creek, South Bend and Bethel Townships as follows:

  • 8.08 miles on Route 2015
  • 4.07 miles on Route 2020
  • 2.64 miles on Route 2021
  • 11.07 miles on Route 2025
  • 3.36 miles on Route 2026
  • 5.20 miles on Route 2027
  • 3.28 miles on Route 2028

“The paving contract will improve nearly 40 miles of roadway in Armstrong County," said District Executive Brian Allen.  “We're very appreciative of the funding that allows us to move forward with repairs to our secondary roadways to improve the ride quality."

Work is anticipated to begin in May and continue through the end of August.  Additional information will proceed the start of each project to alert motorists to any potential traffic delays.

Derry Construction Company, Inc., of Latrobe is completing this $6.4 million project, including $5.2 million for the roads mentioned and $1.2 million for base repair patching on other state highways in east central Armstrong County.
