Paving Beginning on the Three Degree Road Intersection Project in Butler County

Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 10 is announcing upcoming paving as part of the Three Degree Road Intersection Project in Middlesex and Adams Townships, Butler County will begin on May 13, 2024.

May 13 through 31 paving will be taking place at the following project locations.

  • Paving will occur to open the new signalized intersection at Helenz Way. Minimal traffic impacts should be expected in this area during daylight hours. The signal heads which are currently installed and covered will be activated to flash later in the week of March 20. The following week of May 27, this signal will be fully operational and the new township roads (Don Aiken Avenue, Linda Lees Way, and Helenz Way) will be opened.
  • Paving will also occur the week of May 20 on the north side of Three Degree Road/Route 228 at the entrance of Officer Edwards Brooks Drive. This work will require an evening westbound lane closure on Three Degree Road/Route 228 8 PM - 6 AM.

The safety improvement project includes through lanes, turn lanes, side road improvements, the addition of service roads for access control, drainage and guide rail upgrades, signal replacement, signage and pavement markings, sidewalks, ADA ramps, and a roundabout.

Contractor, Independence Excavating, Inc. of Independence, OH will be completing this $55.8 million with a projected completion date in November 2026.
