Clever Road Single-lane Restriction Monday, Tuesday in Allegheny County

03/17/2023

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing a single-lane restriction on Clever Road in Robinson and Kennedy townships, Allegheny County will begin on Monday, March 20 weather permitting.

A single-lane restriction with flagging operations on Clever Road between Aiken Road Extension and Pitchfork Drive will occur from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Crews from Lindy Paving, Inc. will remove guide rail, shift traffic, and install barrier along the shoulder to accommodate overhead structure work on I-79.

Once barrier is placed, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction with shoulders closed between Aiken Road Extension and Pitchfork Drive around-the-clock through mid-November.

This work is part of the $43.9 million I-79 “S-Bend” Project that includes full-depth pavement reconstruction, bridge preservation work on five mainline structures (I-79 northbound and southbound over Clever Road, I-79 northbound and southbound over Route 51, and the Neville Island Bridge). Additionally, there will be milling and paving of three ramps at the Route 51 (Coraopolis/McKees Rocks) interchange. The project also includes guiderail replacement, highway lighting and signing upgrades, new pavement markings and delineation, and other miscellaneous construction work.
