Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is
announcing the closure of the I-279 and I-579 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV)
lanes in Ross Township and the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will occur
tonight, Thursday, October 12.
The outbound HOV lanes
will close to traffic at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday evening to allow crews
to conduct crack and joint sealing work. The HOV lanes will reopen to normal
operations at 6 a.m. Friday morning.
The HOV lanes are used
to reduce congestion along Interstate 279 (Parkway North) by promoting
ridesharing via carpooling, van pooling, or public transportation.
