Overnight Boulevard of the Allies Ramp Closures this Week in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing overnight closures of various at the ramp Boulevard of the Allies (Route 885)/I-376 Parkway East interchange in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will occur Monday through Thursday nights, November 6-9 weather permitting.

Overnight ramp closures for concrete repairs, expansion dam replacement, line striping and other miscellaneous construction work will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night according to the following schedule:

Monday and Tuesday nights, November 6-7

  • Southbound (outbound) Boulevard of the Allies to eastbound (outbound) I-376 (Parkway East)

  • Eastbound (outbound) I-376 (Parkway East) to Oakland/Forbes Avenue (Exit 72A)

Wednesday night, November 8

  • Westbound (inbound) I-376 (Parkway East) to northbound Boulevard of the Allies

Thursday night, November 9

  • Westbound (inbound) I-376 (Parkway East) to northbound Boulevard of the Allies

  • Boulevard of the Allies southbound (outbound) to Oakland including the ramp to Forbes Avenue

Ramp traffic will be detoured during the closures.  Please use caution if traveling in the area.

Southbound Route 885 (Boulevard of the Allies) to eastbound (outbound) I-376 (Parkway East)

  • Continue southbound on the Boulevard of the Allies past the closed ramp

  • Turn right onto Bates Street

  • Turn left onto the ramp to East 376 toward Monroeville

  • End detour

Eastbound (outbound) I-376 (Parkway East) to Oakland/Forbes Avenue (Exit 72A)

  • From eastbound (outbound) I-376, continue past the closed ramp

  • Continue through the Squirrel Hill Tunnel

  • Take the ramp to Edgewood/Swissvale (Exit 77)

  • Bear right toward Swissvale

  • Turn left onto Monongahela Avenue

  • Turn left onto South Braddock Avenue

  • Take the ramp toward West 376

  • Follow westbound (inbound) I-376 through the Squirrel Hill Tunnel

  • Take the ramp to North 885 Oakland (Exit 73B) to Bates Street

  • Turn left onto the Boulevard of the Allies (Route 885)

  • Turn right onto Craft Avenue

  • End detour

Westbound (inbound) I-376 (Parkway East) to northbound Boulevard of the Allies

  • From westbound (inbound) I-376, continue past the closed ramp

  • Take the Grant Street (Exit 71A) left-hand off-ramp

  • Follow Grant Street to the Boulevard of the Allies

  • End detour

Boulevard of the Allies southbound (outbound) to Oakland including the ramp to Forbes Avenue

  • From outbound (southbound) Boulevard of the Allies, take the ramp to outbound (eastbound) I-376 (Parkway East) toward Monroeville

  • Continue on outbound I-376 through the Squirrel Hill Tunnel

  • Take the ramp to Edgewood/Swissvale (Exit 77)

  • Bear right toward Swissvale

  • Turn left onto Monongahela Avenue

  • Turn left onto South Braddock Avenue

  • Take the ramp toward West 376

  • Follow westbound (inbound) I-376 through the Squirrel Hill Tunnel

  • Turn left onto the Boulevard of the Allies (End detour for the Boulevard of the Allies)

  • Turn right onto Craft Avenue and follow to Forbes Avenue (End detour for Forbes Avenue)

Preservation work on two mainline Route 885 Boulevard of the Allies bridges and several ramps at the interchange are included in this $35.41 million project. Work will include bridge deck repairs and overlays, expansion dam replacements, steel superstructure and substructure repairs, bearing replacements, full painting, concrete substructure repairs, downspout replacements, drainage repairs, signing and pavement parking upgrades and other miscellaneous construction activities. Motorists will encounter short term lane closures, night and weekend closures of the ramps and Route 885 in each direction, weekend lane restrictions, and overnight directional closures of I-376 Parkway East, long-term closures of Forbes Avenue, Brady Street, and ramps at the Birmingham Bridge. Short-term and weeknight lane closures of Second Avenue are also included throughout this multi-year project.
