Uniontown, PA – PennDOT District 12 would like to inform motorists of overnight single-lane restrictions and rolling stoppages in both directions on Route 30 and on Route 3030 (E. Pittsburgh Street) in the vicinity of the Route 3030 (E. Pittsburgh Street) bridge over Route 30 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County. Traffic impacts will be from 8:00 PM on Monday, May 15, to 6:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16, weather and operational dependent.
The single-lane restrictions and rolling stoppages will be in place to allow crews using a crane to dismantle and remove existing bridge beams from the Route 3030 (E. Pittsburgh Street) bridge over Route 30.
Traffic will be stopped for short periods and traffic patterns will change. Delays can be expected. Motorists are asked to use caution while driving through the work zone and allow extra travel time.
Crews from Charles J. Merlo, Inc. will be performing the work during nighttime hours.
This work is part of a $7.6 million project involving the replacement of the Route 3030 over Route 30 bridge and includes a new two-lane single span concrete adjacent box beam bridge, realignment of the existing roadway on and off the new bridge with new asphalt pavement along with signage, guiderail, and drainage upgrades. The project is anticipated to be completed in May 2024.
