Uniontown, PA – PennDOT District 12 is advising motorists that a portion of Route 356 will be closed to traffic between Route 4054 (La Belle Vue Road) and Melwood Road in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County. The closure will begin Monday, June 5 and remain in place through the end of August, weather and operational dependent.

In addition, only local traffic will have access to northbound Route 356 between Route 66 and La Belle Vue Road All other traffic will follow the posted detour.

The posted detour will utilize Route 66, Route 56, and Route 4048 (Hyde Park Road).

Crews from Ligonier Construction Company will be performing the work.

This work is part of a $7.7 million project to replace the existing bridge carrying Route 356 over Pine Run with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert. This project also includes a new roundabout to be constructed at the intersection of Route 356 and Route 4054 (La Belle Vue Road). Included in the project is the realignment of Route 356 and Route 4054 (La Belle Vue Road), milling and pavement overlays, storm water maintenance, and signal upgrades to the existing signal located at the intersection Route 356 and Route 4048 (Hyde Park Rd). The project is anticipated to be complete in May 2025.
