Bridge Maintenance Work Underway in Fayette, Greene, and Washington Counties

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that bridge maintenance work started today, Monday, March 18, in Fayette, Greene and Washington counties. Bearing, tooth dam, scupper, and seal cleaning is anticipated through mid-May, depending on weather and operations.

Intermittent, daylight, single-lane restrictions will be in place from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the following locations:

Fayette County

  • Route 40 over Toll Road 43, Stadium Drive, and Route 2025 in South Union Township.
  • Route 119 over the Youghiogheny River in the City of Connellsville. 

Greene County

  • Interstate 79 over Dunkard Creek and Wilden Hill Road in Perry Township.
  • I-79 over Route 21 and 2026 in Franklin Township.
  • I-79 over Route 221 in Washington Township.

Washington County

  • Route 18 over Chartiers Creek in Canton Township.
  • Route 18 over Burgetts Fork in Smith Township.
  • Route 19 over Little Chartiers Creek in Peters Township.
  • Route 22 over Route 4005 in Hanover Township.
  • I-70 over Railroad Street in Donegal Township.
  • I-70 over Route 4051 in Canton Township.
  • I-70 over Zediker Station Road in South Strabane Township.
  • I-70 over Route 1055 in Somerset Township.
  • I-70 over Route 88 in Fallowfield Township.
  • I-79 over Route 1002 in North Strabane Township.
  • Route 1009 over Chartiers Creek in North Strabane Township.
  • Route 1010 over Chartiers Creek in Peters Township.
  • Route 1039 over Chartiers Creek in Chartiers Township.
  • Route 1077 over Route 837 in Carroll Township.

Green Acres Contracting will be conducting the operations as part of a $375,000 project for bridge preservation on state roads throughout PennDOT District 12's Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties.

Exercise caution while approaching the work zone. Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
