Route 259 Coal Pit Road Pipe Replacement Begins Next Week in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that Route 259 (Coal Pit Road) between Austraw Road and McCurdy Trail is scheduled to close Monday, April 15 at 7:00 AM, in Ligonier Township, Westmoreland County. 

The closure is anticipated through late May depending on weather and operations. 

A posted detour will be in place as follows:

Northbound

  • Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) to
  • Route 711 (North Market Street) to
  • Route 1017 (Wilpen Road) to
  • Route 1019 (Marietta Road). 

Southbound

  • Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) to
  • Route 711 (North Market Street/Ligonier Street) to
  • Route 1013 (Knupp Road).

District 12 maintenance department force will be replacing a cross pipe over a tributary of Coal Pit Run.

Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
