PennDOT's Washington County Maintenance Update -- Week of April 29, 2024

Uniontown, PA – Washington County Maintenance Manager Susan Howard announced the following tentative work plan for the week of April 29, 2024. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Brushing:

  • Route 40 (National Pike) in Claysville Borough, City of Washington, and Buffalo, Canton, and Donegal townships.
  • Route 2038 (Coal Center Road) in California Borough and West Pike Run Township.

​Debris removal:

  • Route 40 (Main Street) in Centerville and West Brownsville boroughs and West Pike Township.
  • Interstate 70 in Speers and Twilight boroughs, City of Washington, and Canton, Fallowfield, North Franklin, Somerset, and South Strabane townships.

Ditch line cleaning:

  • Route 837 (Main Street) in City of Monongahela.
  • Route 2030 (California Drive) in West Pike Run Township.
  • Route 2038 (Woodland Road) in West Pike Run Township. 

Inlet cleaning/repair:

  • Route 18 (Prosperity Pike) in Morris and South Franklin townships.
  • Route 18 (Park Avenue) in Mount Pleasant Township.
  • Route 837 (Elrama Road) in Union Township.
  • Route 980 (Washington Road) in Canonsburg Borough and Cecil Township.
  • Route 4012 (Grant Street) in Smith Township.
  • Route 4045 (Willow Road) in Hopewell Township. 

Mowing:

  • Route 221 (Chestnut Street Extension) in Buffalo Township.
  • Interstate 70 Ramps 8014 (Jefferson Avenue) and 8025 (Donora).
  • Route 22 Ramp 8046 in Hanover Township.
  • Route 519 Park and Ride Ramp 9501 in North Strabane Township. 
Patching:
  • Route 40 (Main Street) in Centerville and West Brownsville boroughs.
  • Interstate 70 in Speers and Twilight boroughs, City of Washington, and Buffalo, Canton, Donegal, Fallowfield, North Franklin, South Strabane, and Somerset townships.
Shoulder cutting:
  • Route 3011 (Mounts Road) in Buffalo and Canton townships.
  • Route 4022 (Pleasant Valley Road) in City of Washington and Buffalo and Canton townships.
  • Route 4024 (Clay Taylor Ridge Road) in Blaine, Buffalo, and Canton townships.

Shoulder paving:

  • Route 3008 (Jolly School Road) in South Franklin Township.
 Slide repair:
  • Route 4024 (Taylorstown Ridge Road) in Blaine Township.
  • A posted detour will be in place using Route 4024 (Taylorstown Ridge Road), Route 221 (Main Street/Buffalo Creek Road), and Route 4059 (Post Road).
  • Route 2013 (Little Daniels Run Road) in North Bethlehem Township.
Spray patching:
  • ​Interstate 70 in City of Washington. 
Sweeping:
  • Route 3014 (South Bridge Road) in South Franklin Township.
  • Route 3023 (Old Brick Road) in Donegal Township.
  • Route 3043 (Majorsville Road) in West Finley Township. 

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the County. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways.  The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623).  

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
