PennDOT's Westmoreland County Maintenance Update --Week of April 29, 2024

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of April 29, 2024. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Bridge flushing:

  • Various routes countywide. 

Bridge sweeping:

  • Various routes countywide. 

Brush cutting:

  • Route 259 in Fairfield Township. 

Crack sealing:

  • Route 30 in Derry and Ligonier townships.
  • Route 3091 (New Stanton-Youngwood Road) in New Stanton Borough. 

Patching:

  • Route 30 in Hempfield Township.
  • Route 30 (Jacktown Hill) in North Huntingdon Township.
  • Route 259 in Fairfield Township. 

Parallel drainage:

  • Route 3016 (Lowber Road) in Sewickley Township. 

Pipe flushing:

  • Route 4035 (Sandy Hill Road) in Penn Township. 

Pipe installation:

  • Route 259 in Ligonier Township.
  • Route 3009 in Rostraver Township. 

Shoulder cutting:

  • Various routes in Ligonier Township. 

Shoulder stabilization:

  • Route 3037 (Waltz Mill Road) in South Huntingdon Township.
  • Route 3016 (Herminie Road) in Sewickley Township.

Slide repair:

  • Route 130 (Harrison Ave) in Penn Township. 

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways.  The number is 1.800.FIX ROAD (1.800.349.7623). 

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
