PennDOT to Begin Route 82 (Manor Road) Roundabout Safety Improvement Project in West Brandywine Township

03/21/2023

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin on Monday, March 27, on a project to improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection of Route 82 (Manor Road) and Cedar Knoll Road/Reeceville Road in West Brandywine Township, Chester County.

Under this safety improvement project, PennDOT’s contractor will construct a single-lane roundabout to enhance traffic flow through the intersection. The project will also include full-depth reconstruction of the existing intersection; a new storm sewer drainage system to improve the conveyance of runoff to downstream drainage swales; grading for future installation of sidewalks and crossings; and lighting will be installed for the roundabout.

The project aims to reduce overall crashes at the intersection; reduce vehicle speeds; and provide a safe and efficient intersection that will serve existing and future traffic.

Beginning Monday, March 27, through Friday, April 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, periodic lane closures are scheduled on Route 82 (Manor Road) in both directions between Red Oak Drive and Porter Lane

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

As construction on this improvement project progresses, the contractor will implement full closures as needed to Route 82 (Manor Road). Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route. Temporary signals and signage will be installed to direct traffic through the detour.

Marino Corporation of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $1.5 million project, which is financed with 100% federal funds. Construction on the project is expected to finish this winter.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
