Resurfacing Operations Scheduled Next Week on I-95 and Other State Highways in Philadelphia Region

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that resurfacing is scheduled on Interstate 95 and other state highways in Philadelphia, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties, under several projects to repair and pave more than 200 miles of state highway across the Philadelphia Region.

The work schedules and locations are:

Philadelphia

  • Monday, June 26, though Friday, June 30, from 8:00 PM through 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-95 between the Girard Avenue and Columbus Boulevard interchanges for concrete road patching; and
  • Monday, June 26, through Friday, June 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, periodic lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) between Adams Avenue and Summerdale Avenue for intersection improvements.

Chester County

  • Sunday, June 25, from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 (Kennett-Oxford Bypass) between the U.S. 1 (Kennett-Oxford Bypass) bridge over branch of Tweed Creek and the Maryland State line in West Nottingham and East Nottingham townships for milling and paving;
  • Sunday, June 25, from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 272 (Christine Road/Chrome Road) between Baltimore Pike and the Maryland State line in West Nottingham and East Nottingham townships for milling and paving;
  • Sunday, June 25, through Friday, June 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Chrome Road between Barnsley Road and State Road in Elk and East Nottingham townships for base repair and milling and paving;
  • Monday, June 26, through Friday, June 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 (Kennett-Oxford Bypass) between the U.S. 1 (Kennett-Oxford Bypass) bridge over branch of Tweed Creek and the Maryland State line in West Nottingham and East Nottingham townships for milling and paving; and
  • Monday, June 26, through Friday, June 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 272 (Christine Road/Chrome Road) between Baltimore Pike and the Maryland State line in West Nottingham and East Nottingham townships for base repair and milling and paving.

Delaware County

  • Monday, June 26, through Friday, June 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure us scheduled at the Springfield Road and Brookside Road Intersection in Springfield Township for inlet repair; and
  • Monday, June 26, through Friday, June 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on Baltimore Pike between State Street/Brooke Street and Oak Avenue in Swarthmore, Morton, Media, and Clifton Heights boroughs and Nether Providence, Springfield, and Upper Darby townships for sealing, inlet cleaning, and casting adjustments.

Montgomery County

  • Sunday, June 25, through Friday, June 30, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 232 (Oxford Avenue/Huntingdon Pike) between the Philadelphia County line and the Abington Township line in Rockledge Borough for sealing;
  • Sunday, June 25, through Friday, June 30, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Germantown Pike between Butler Pike and Sandy Hill Road in Plymouth Township for sealing; and
  • Sunday, June 25, through Friday, June 30, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on High Street between Township Line Road and Keim Street in Pottstown Borough, and Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships for sealing.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Currently, PennDOT is working on several resurfacing projects in the Philadelphia Region totaling $134 million. Under these projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surfaces and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
