Smithbridge Road Bridge over Webb Creek Closed in Concord Township Due to Structure Condition

07/14/2023

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the bridge carrying Smithbridge Road over Webb Creek in Concord Township, Delaware County, was closed today after a bridge inspection determined structure deterioration and increased undermining due to recent storms.

During the closure, Smithbridge Road motorists will be directed to use Bethel Road, Garnet Mine Road, Route 491 (Naamans Creek Road), and northbound U.S. 202 (Wilmington-West Chester Pike).

The structure will remain closed until PennDOT bridge engineers can determine the full extent of the damage and develop a plan to repair and reopen the bridge.

Built in 1927, the 20-foot-long, reinforced concrete T-beam bridge carries approximately 7,767 vehicles per day.
