U.S. 202 North (Dekalb Pike) Closed at Henderson Road in Upper Merion Township

07/17/2023

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that northbound U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) is closed and detoured between Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, due to pavement failure.

This same section of U.S. 202 was closed in both directions on Monday night, July 10, following the discovery of a large sinkhole. The highway was reopened on Wednesday night, July 12, following sinkhole repair by PA American Water.

On Saturday night, July 15, the left lane was closed on northbound U.S. 202 just after Henderson Road due to new pavement failure. The right lane was closed tonight, July 16 at 11:15 PM.

Northbound U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) between Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard will remain closed until PennDOT engineers can assess the extent of the new damage and develop a plan to perform additional sinkhole repair.

During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard. Local access will be maintained up to the closure.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work area because backups and delays will occur.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
