Construction Planned Wednesday Night on U.S. 1 North in Bensalem Township

08/03/2023

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction is scheduled next week on U.S. 1 under a project to reconstruct, widen and improve the highway in Bensalem and Middletown townships, Bucks County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

The pattern change was originally scheduled for tonight, August 3, but was postponed to next week due to recent high temperatures.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

Following the traffic shift, crews will replace the stop sign at the end of the ramp from the PA Turnpike to northbound U.S. 1 with a yield sign, and demolition and reconstruction will begin on the southbound bridge carrying U.S. 1 over Rockhill Drive.

PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing new bridges from the Turnpike Interchange in Bensalem Township to north of Penndel/Business U.S. 1 in Middletown Township under the $113.5 million Section RC2 contract.
