PennDOT to Begin U.S. 422 Pavement and Bridge Rehabilitation Project in Upper Providence, Lower Providence Townships

08/15/2023

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin next week on a $6.9 million project to rehabilitate pavement along eastbound U.S. 422 between the Route 29/Phoenixville and Route 363/Trooper Road interchanges in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships, Montgomery County.

Under this contract, PennDOT will repair existing pavement with accelerated concrete patching; perform bridge deck repair, diamond grinding, and joint sealing; and install reflective pavement markings. Work will take place on eastbound U.S. 422 just east of the Route 29 Interchange to east of the Pawling's Road overpass.

Most construction activities under this project will take place at night during off-peak travel times. Dependent on the operation, there may be some daytime traffic restrictions.

Beginning Tuesday, August 22, Tuesday, August 22, through Thursday, August 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on eastbound U.S. 422 at the Oaks/Audoban Interchange in Upper Providence Township for premilimary construction activites.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

J. D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds. Work on the entire project is expected to finish in fall 2024.
