King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction is scheduled next week on southbound Interstate 95 in Center City Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, August 21, through Thursday, August 24, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a right lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 between Market Street and South Street for curb and rumble strip removal; and
- Monday, August 21, through Thursday, August 24, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the Market Street ramp to southbound I-95 will be closed for construction on I-95. Traffic headed for the Market Street ramp will be detoured south on Front Street, then east on either Dock Street or Spruce Street to south on Columbus Boulevard to the ramp to southbound I-95 at Morris Street.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel near or through the work areas. The schedules are weather dependent.
The work is among the early-stage construction activities underway on PennDOT's $329 million I-95/CAP project to replace, expand and improve the existing covered section of I-95 and improve multi-modal connections between Center City and the Delaware River waterfront.
