Construction Planned Next Week on U.S.1, Old Lincoln Highway in Bensalem, Middletown Townships

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction is scheduled next week on U.S. 1 and Old Lincoln Highway in Bensalem and Middletown townships under a project to reconstruct, widen, and improve U.S. 1 in Bucks County. 

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • Sunday, August 27, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, southbound U.S. 1 will be reduced to a single lane between the Bristol Road overpass and Street Road for line striping and construction barrier adjustments;
  • Monday, August 28, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, northbound U.S.1 will be reduced to a single lane between Street Road and the Neshaminy exits for installation of an impact attenuator; and
  • Monday, August 28, through Friday, September 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes will take place on southbound Old Lincoln Highway for beam setting on the new southbound U.S.1 overpass.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change. 

PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing new bridges from the Turnpike Interchange in Bensalem Township to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 in Middletown Township under the $113.5 million Section RC2 contract.
