Bridge Construction Planned Friday and Saturday to Repair and Reopen U.S. 1 South (Roosevelt Expressway) Ramp to I-76 West in Philadelphia

12/28/2023

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge construction will begin on Friday, December 29, to repair and reopen the ramp from southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) to westbound Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) and City Avenue. The ramp bridge has been closed and detoured since Tuesday, December 26, due to structural damage sustained by a large vehicle strike.

On Friday, December 29, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, December 30, from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a right lane closure will be in place on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between City Avenue (Exit 339) and Lincoln Drive (Exit 340A) to repair the overhead ramp bridge.

The ramp from southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) to westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) and City Avenue is anticipated to reopen sometime Saturday evening, December 30.

While the ramp remains closed, motorists are being directed to use eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway), exit at Montgomery Drive (Exit 341), and take the ramp to westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway).

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work area because significant backups and delays will occur.
