King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that traffic signal and sign installations will occur next week on U.S. 322 (Horseshoe Pike) under a project to improve the travel and safety at the intersection with Route 82 (Manor Road) in West Brandywine Township, Chester County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, March 18, through Friday, April 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure with flagging is scheduled on U.S. 322 (Horseshoe Pike) at the intersection with Route 82 (Manor Road).
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under this safety improvement project, PennDOT will perform minor widening of the existing roadway to accommodate the construction of left turn lanes on U.S. 322 (Horseshoe Pike); replacement of existing and installation of new traffic signals, signal supports and related equipment; replacement and installation of signage related to the intersection; and restoration of pavement markings.
The project aims to improve safety by reducing the number and severity of vehicular crashes at the intersection that has received a higher-than-average number of rear-end crashes, especially during dark and dawn periods.
Brubacher Excavating, Inc. of Bowmansville, PA, is the general contractor on the $1.9 million project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
