Bridge Inspections Scheduled on I-76, I-95, Several Other State Highways in Philadelphia

King of Prussia PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge inspections are scheduled on Interstate I-76, I-95, and several other state highways in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • Monday, March 25, through Thursday, March 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on the eastbound deck of the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge (Route 291) between the I-95 South and the I-76 interchanges.
  • Tuesday, March 26, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 at the US 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) Interchange
  • Wednesday, March 27, from 9:00 Am to 3:00 PM, alternating lane closures are scheduled on the University Avenue ramp to westbound I-76.
  • Thursday, March 28, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on northbound I-95 between the I-76 East/Walt Whitman Bridge and the Columbus Boulevard interchanges
  • Thursday, March 28, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, a right lance closure is scheduled on northbound I-95 North at the I-76 East/Walt Whitman Bridge Interchange.
  •  Thursday, March 28, and Friday, March 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on the westbound I-76 ramp to 30th Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
