PennDOT Completes Route 23 (Nutt Road), Starr Street Intersection Improvement Project in Phoenixville Borough

04/12/2024

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction has been completed on a project to reduce congestion and improve mobility and safety at the Route 23 (Nutt Road) and Starr Street Intersection in Phoenixville Borough, Chester County.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor constructed a dedicated left-turn lane from eastbound Route 23 (Nutt Road) to Starr Street to increase traffic flow and improve congestion. In addition, westbound Route 23 (Nutt Road) was widened at the intersection to provide space for a new right-turn lane onto Starr Street.

Additional enhancements included modernizing traffic signals and ADA curb ramps; new pavement markings; upgrading the bus stop concrete pad; and milling and resurfacing of the roadway.

Marino Corporation of Skippack, Montgomery County, was the general contractor on this $941,319 intersection improvement project, which was financed with 100 percent federal funds.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
