Sinkhole Repair Continues on U.S. 202 North (Dekalb Pike) in King of Prussia

04/17/2024

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a left lane closure will remain in place on northbound U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) between Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, for sinkhole repair.

The lane closure has been in place since early this morning after a depression in the pavement developed in the northbound travel lanes.

A left lane closure on U.S. 202 South (Dekalb Pike) is expected to be in place sometime tomorrow, April 18, to allow PennDOT's contractor to excavate the area; pinpoint the open void; backfill the hole to pavement elevation using flowable fill; install a subbase and binder; and pave and restripe the highway to safely reopen it to traffic.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because significant backups and delays will occur. Local access will be maintained for all residents and businesses.

This same section of U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) was shut down in July 2023 and December 2023 for additional sinkhole repair.

A comprehensive sinkhole remediation project for U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike), and for Route 29 (Morehall Road) in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, is scheduled to be advertised for construction this summer.
