Bridge Construction Planned Thursday for I-95 Permanent Reconstruction at Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia

04/24/2024

Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge construction activities are planned tomorrow, April 25, on southbound Interstate 95 through the ongoing permanent reconstruction project at the Cottman Avenue Interchange in Northeast Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Thursday, April 25, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Academy Road and Betsy Ross Bridge interchanges.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The lane closure will allow PennDOT's contractor to safely place the concrete deck on the inner section of the new southbound bridge.

The outside sections of the new bridge were completed last November, and traffic was shifted onto the completed outer sections while work on the center section of the bridge continues into mid-2024.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
