Public Meeting and Plans Display for the Route 601 (Hollsopple Bridge) Replacement Project in Somerset County

06/22/2023

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is presently developing plans for a project to replace the Route 601 (Hollsopple Bridge) in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County.

The scope of the project includes replacing the existing one-lane, single-span concrete slab structure that carries Route 601 over an unnamed tributary to the Stonycreek River with a precast box culvert. The project also includes realignment of Route 601 to improve the geometry of the roadway and to provide a perpendicular intersection with Route 403.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed project. Representatives from PennDOT will be available to answer questions and receive comments regarding the project. The comments of all individuals, groups or organizations are welcome. Anyone with knowledge of historic resources in the project area should attend the meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 28, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Conemaugh Township Municipal Building, 1120 Tire Hill Road, Johnstown, PA 15905.

The meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities. Any person requiring special aid or additional information regarding the meeting may contact the project manager, Mr. Andrew Keirn, P.E., PennDOT Project Manager, at (814) 696-7299 or akeirn@pa.gov.
