Public Meeting and Plans Display for the Route 4041 (Soap Hollow Road) Bridge Replacement in Somerset County

08/23/2023

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is presently developing plans for a project to replace the bridge that carries Route 4041 (Soap Hollow Road) over an unnamed tributary to Stonycreek River in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County.

The designed plans call for replacement of the existing concrete encased I-beam bridge with a new precast reinforced concrete box culvert. The work will be done with a 5.6-mile traffic detour activated for the duration that follows Route 403 (Tire Hill Road) and Route 4043 (West Campus Road) back to Route 4041 (Soap Hollow Road). Roadway approach work on either end of the bridge is also part of the project plans.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed project. Representatives from PennDOT will be available to answer questions and receive comments regarding the project. The comments of all individuals, groups or organizations are welcome. Anyone with knowledge of historic resources in the project area should attend the meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Conemaugh Township Municipal Building at 1120 Tire Hill Road, Johnstown, PA, 15905.

The Plans Display location is ADA accessible and any person requiring special assistance is asked to contact the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation prior to the meeting. If you require additional information concerning this meeting, please contact the project manager, Jaclyn Himmelwright, PennDOT Project Manager, at (814) 696-7171.
