PennDOT Announces Rolling Roadblocks on I-80 in Centre County

05/02/2023

State College, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that rolling roadblocks will be in effect Saturday, May 6, on Interstate 80 in Marion Township, Centre County, between 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM. These delays are necessary so West Penn Power can cut and remove overhead power lines no longer in use as part of preliminary work on a bridge replacement project starting this construction season.

PennDOT anticipates minor delays on I-80 in each direction between exits 161/Bellefonte and 173/Lamar. Pennsylvania State Police and the contractor for the bridge replacement project will be on-site to assist with traffic control. A temporary reduction of the speed limit to 55 mph will be in place. PennDOT urges drivers to remain alert for stopped and slowed traffic conditions and build extra travel time into their schedules.

Message boards along I-80 will alert motorists to the power line work and potential for stopped or slowed traffic.

PennDOT will issue an update before the start of construction on the project.
