PennDOT Announces Public Meeting and Virtual Plans Display for the SR 11, Section D53, Structure Replacement Project in Clinton Township, Wyoming County

03/02/2023

Dunmore, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an in-person and virtual plans display regarding the SR 11, Section D53, Structure Replacement Project in Clinton Township, Wyoming County. The plans display will be held online and in-person for public viewing at the Clinton Township Municipal Building.

The structure is located on SR 11 (U.S. Route 11) over an Unnamed Tributary to South Branch Tunkhannock Creek, approximately 0.3 miles north of the SR 6 (U.S. Route 6)/U.S. Route 11 interchange.

The purpose of this project is to address the structural deficiency of the existing structure due to its age and condition and to provide continued safe and efficient access over the Unnamed Tributary to South Branch Tunkhannock Creek. Additional work includes, but is not limited to: approach roadway reconstruction, guide rail improvements, grading, signing, and pavement markings. The reconstructed roadway and structure will accommodate one twelve-foot lane with a 5-foot outside shoulder in each direction of travel.

A detour will be implemented during construction. Detoured traffic will utilize U.S. Route 6 and SR 92 (PA Route 92). Both directions of U.S. Route 11 traffic will be detoured during construction between the U.S. Route 11/U.S. Route 6 interchange in Clinton Township and the U.S. Route 11/PA Route 92 interchange in Nicholson Borough. The detour is fifteen miles long and is expected to be in place for approximately twenty-eight days. Local access to driveways will be maintained during the detour.

The project is currently in the preliminary engineering phase and is planned to commence in 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2025 and be completed by Fall 2025.

The purpose of the public meeting and virtual plans display is to introduce the project and the associated detour route to receive public questions, comments, or other input regarding the project.

A public plans display/meeting will be held immediately prior to the regularly scheduled Supervisors’ Meeting at the Clinton Township Municipal Building on March 8, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The virtual public plans display will be available from March 6, 2023, to March 24, 2023.
